TOO MUCH INFORMATION!
I'm at Barnes & Noble, there is a girl talking on the phone to a potential client. She is talking, talking, talking, talking. She's not even taking a breath or stopping to pause. She is just giving this poor person on the other end of the phone tons of information. No matter how great the information is, she is unaware that people have very short attention spans, and the person on the other end is just not getting it all. When she finally stopped talking to see if the other person was still on the phone, I heard her respond to the client with, "I understand how you can find this overwhelming, but trust me it really isnt'." I tend to doubt it. It's overwhelming for me and I'm not even listening to what she is saying!

Three Mistakes with Public Speaking Skills
There were three mistakes I noted in my current newsletter this month - the PEPzine. These mistakes were done at a recent seminar I attended. I have listed all three and if you would like to see what I said about each one, subscribe to the PEPzine by going to: www.jackirose.com
1. The room set up - all wrong
2. The speaker location - all wrong
3. The language the speakers used - cliches

Three Great Public Speaking Quotes
I saw a panel of experts in the speaking industry. I quoted each one in regards to what they said about public speaking.
“Always make sure you present the way you want to be seen.” Linda Guild, Association Executive
“How you see yourself may not be consistent on how your audience is seeing you.” Karen King, Meetings S...trategist
“Passion makes a difference on the platform.” Chris Regan, Speaker Bureau President

Speak for Experience
I cleaned out my basement today and found a whole bunch of thank you letters from speaking engagements I gave during the first couple of years getting into the speaking business. I realized I was speaking a whole lot just to get experience and because I loved it so much. You may not love it, but if you want to get experience, get out there and speak, speak, speak!
