Funny Noises from a Conference Presenter

The keynote speaker at the convention was great, but every now and then she had to clear her throat and did it right into the microphone. It was distracting and annoying.

If you need to clear your throat, sneeze, or cough, or make any kind of funny sounds that will not enhance your speech, then please move your mouth away from the microphone.

Tips to clear your throat: Always have water nearby, use lemon drops, relax the throat, breath from your diaphragm - not your chest.

Feel free to leave a comment on what works for you.

Speaking Too General in Your Presentation

Time and time again my clients present their material to me and they leave out pertinent information. Especially when they are telling a personal story or real life example to hone their message. They seem to think that the audience members are mind readers. Because you are so close to your subject matter and know what you are going to say, you forget that your audience is hearing it for the first time and needs a little bit more information. But do not get this confused with giving too much information. The key to a successful presentation is to only give what your audience needs to know. To do this, you need to prepare, prepare, prepare!
