Tips for a Nervous Presenter

Are You Nervous? Are You Having Trouble Preparing For Your Presentation?

A friend of mine recently sent me an email to let me know that she is feeling nervous about her upcoming presentation and she hasn't done much preparation for it at all.

Here's how I responded to her:

Good luck with the presentation. Remember these three things:

1 - It's normal to be nervous
2 - Just be yourself (your audience prefers it)
3 - Your audience is on your side and they are interested in what you have to say

Don't worry about all that other presentation skills stuff. Just know what you want your audience to really know and do. Just focus on that.

Be sure to rehearse your presentation out loud at least once before you actually do it. Maybe present it to your family?

If you are not up for writing the whole thing out, just make an outline of the points you want to cover.

Have Fun with Public Speaking

The more fun your audience has, the more impact your presentation will have. Most people are afraid to let loose, be engaging, and connect with their audience. Are you one of these people? Even if you do tend to connect with your audience and have fun with your presentations, I bet you can be even more engaging.
