Full Day Presentation Tip

Your audience has the most energy at the start of your program. They will get tired as the day goes on. This means you need to use more engaging techniques as you go. For example, you definitely need to open with high energy and you can give lots of great substance in the morning. As you get closer to lunch, you need to be a little more interactive than the morning. After lunch is the biggest challenge and then closer to the end of the day is the worst. In the afternoon, plan some humorous stories, interactive activities, and ask lots of questions. Some simple things you can do are: ask “show of hand” questions. i.e. “By a show of hands, who likes this idea?”
Have a workbook, where they have to fill in the blanks. This gives your audience an urgent need to pay attention to you. Give people a short writing assignment and have them share their answers to the person next to them or if time, break them up into groups for a group activity.

The worst thing you can do in the afternoon is to just have them sit and listen to you. Get them moving, involved with your presentation, and having fun. They will learn and absorb so much more and will find your program worth while for attending.
