Panel Presentation Skills

Often I get clients who are planning to moderate a panel. They get just as nervous as my clients with full blown presentations. Mainly because they are not sure what to do. Here's what I tell them:

1 - Have a great opening to get the audience interested in what they are about to hear and who they are about to here from. This is the same you would do in a full-blown presentation. A strong opening is extremely important.

2 - Get typed up introductions from your panel presenters. Ask them to send you an introduction on how they would like to be introduced. Tell them what to include. You could also interview them for the introduction. Be sure to add a personal note about each one - for example, what they like to do in their free time. This helps to connect with the audience.

3 - Just like a full-blown presentation, you need to have a dynamic closing. Sum up the key points that the panelists mentioned and emphasize the benefits to the audience of the entire presentation. Send them away feeling motivated, inspired, and ready to take action.
