Relate to Your Audience
I was 1 out of 22 speakers who spoke at a program that met once per week. I recently bumped into one of the attendees who took that 22 week program and told me that he got more out of my program than any of the others. He then told me why. He said, "you were honest. You told us where you came from and that's where I am now. I could really relate to you and was very inspired. You gave me hope, enthusiasm and motivation to grow as a speaker."
When you present, just be yourself. Tell your audience where you came from. Be humble. You will be much more effective. Remember, it's not about you, it's all about the people in your audience. Afterall, isn't that why you are making youre presentation? Isn't it for them? Even if you are trying to sel them something. It's something that they probably need that will benefit them.
